Helen Hayes Awards Rules: 2013 & Before

Jen Clements

The Helen Hayes Awards annually recognizes excellence and celebrates the professional theatre in the Washington, D.C. area. The rules for the administration of the Helen Hayes Awards were originally drafted in 1984, and are continually evaluated and updated by an overseeing rules committee to ensure their relevance and appropriateness for Washington-area constituent theatres. These rules and procedures are intended to achieve fairness for all participants, credibility for the Awards process, and to be responsive to the needs of the Washington area theatre community.

These rules apply to the 30th Annual Helen Hayes Awards and the Awards that have come before. The adjudication processes that changed in late 2013 are being implemented as of January 1, 2014--evaluating work that will be honored at the 2015 Helen Hayes Awards.
